On Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending a meeting of the Czech and Slovak Heritage Association in Baltimore. I had the opportunity to sign my book, Prague: My Long Journey Home, for a number of Czech and Slovak emigres and descendants of emigres. Perhaps more than anything, I enjoyed eating Czech food served at the meeting. Any meal which contains the world’s greatest morsel, knedliky (Czech bread dumplings), makes two hours on the road worthwhile. For those of you who have read my book, I know what you’re asking: Yes, knedliky are better than Spam!
